Summer Recap #3

T's extended family has a reunion every other year.  They are a huge family and honestly T doesn't know too many of them since he lived with his mom and had no contact with them for a good decade.  We weren't planning to go because of T's intense school schedule but at the last min we did go for a quick over night trip.  On route we had to make a quick stop to see the "world's largest sausage".  You seriously can't make this kind of funny up ;)
These reunions are honestly a bit akward when my BIL and SIL and kids don't come because I feel like I don't know anyone and T takes off and catches up with relatives.  Sadly AL was pretty unhappy most of the weekend.   She had managed to fall off the deck and land right on her shoulder right before we left and she was in pain (turns out she had damaged all the ligaments in her shoulder, opps)

The boys loved this homemade car.
Every few hours they set off a candy canon for the kids which was fun.
This will sound bad BUT the best part of the trip was the hotel lol.  After our stuffy house the A/C and pool were a welcome treat. Our A/C in our van also went at the start of the summer so we more then enjoyed a break from the heat.
I managed to snag a pic of T's Grandpa and his siblings that are still living.
The kids stayed pretty close the entire time, feeling a bit unsettled with their unfamiliar surroundings and company.  I kept trying to explain that everyone was actually their cousins and they didn't need to be so shy.

T was happy to get in a visit with his Grandpa who is now 95 yrs old and doesn't have too many moments of clarity.  I always laugh at how much they actually look alike!
By the end of the afternoon the kids started to relax a bit and enjoy themselves.

Sunday morning we headed over to visit at T's Dad and wife's house.  It was a pretty akward visit (as it tends to go when we go there) but we made the best of it, not the most welcoming bunch.
The kids enjoyed visiting the horses and feeding them cookies.
And they thought Grandpa's pink wagon was pretty cool.
JA was pretty excited when he was told he could have the keys to this car when he is 16 yrs old lol
As fast as we came we left and headed back on the drive home.  I think we all felt like WR looked ;)
