We've lived on just the best street for almost 3 yrs now and I've wanted to have a block party each summer but never really got on it. The neighbor a few houses down on our intersecting street finally got on it and put a committee together and organized the best event. 200 attended! We closed off our cul-de-sac for it. There was a huge BBQ and a big cake, games, face painting, balloon twister and even the police joined for most of it. The only snag was the weather
The heaviest, rain, hail, thunder and lightning blew in as we set up. Thankfully the skies cleared and we got in several fun hours before it hit again. A night of lasting memories. We truly feel lucky to be raising our kids among friends.
Cool. And that yard Jenga is on my eternally long to do list.
ReplyDeleteThe huge jenga and connect 4 games were actually provided by the city! Part of theit encouragement to get block parties happening (after they make it super annoying with permits and signatures etc required; )
