A little more prepared

"Our Heavenly Father created this beautiful earth, with all its abundance, for our benefit and use. His purpose is to provide for our needs as we walk in faith and obedience. He has lovingly commanded us to “prepare every needful thing” (see D&C 109:8) so that, should adversity come, we can care for ourselves and our neighbors and support bishops as they care for others.

"We encourage members world-wide to prepare for adversity in life by having a basic supply of food and water and some money in savings." - The First Presidency

I had the wonderful opportunity to spend an hour at our local Home Storage Center of our church this morning. I love that place! It is an amazing dry food cannery centre run entirely by a volunteer couple that was just so sweet. We have the opportunity to attend whenever we want to purchase and then can dry food goods (beans, flour, wheat, sugar, apples and so much more) for our home storage (most items lasting up to 30 years on the shelf).
There is something just so satisfying about coming away with 13 cases (78 cans) of dry food goods to add to our home food storage. A good way to spend a portion of our tax return for sure.

With all of the chaos in the world right now it feels good to know that we are doing our best to be better prepared for any time of need that may come our way.
We booked a day to go back next month. Let me know if anyone at all (member of our church or not) want to join in the fun in feeling a little more prepared!

  1. The best part is the peace following and the spirit while doing. The latter I did not expect. So cool for your family!
