Tuesday was a bit drizzly and cooler but we were completely happy to enjoy it after the scorching days (what is a visit to the island without a bit of rain?). The evening prior we had been driving around trying to find a river and noticed this Wildlife Recovery Center and wanted to stop in. They had a large building full of stuffed animals that can be found in area with lots of facts about them that was super cool.
We then headed outside to explore.
The place was full of birds of prey, most of which were recovering from injuries or were unable to return to the wild due to permanent injury.
The bear were really what we were excited about seeing
There was one large black bear living there named Knut. He had a massive area full of blackerry brambles and only tiny peeking areas to look inside. This one end had his den and he was fast asleep in there when we arrived right up against the fence. We were behind a fence just a couple feet back. It was so fascinating watching him stretch and yawn and make bear noises back to JA.
Eventually he squeezed out of his den and grabbed a quick drink and peed forever (highly entertaining) and then took off into the brush. We loved it.
In the afternoon the sun started to come out and we headed to the best mini golf around. We used to always golf here as kids and most mini golf places just don't measure up since then!
AL actually got really good at it by the end of our two courses of 18 holes
Even managed to get a hole in one which is no small task with WR snagging our balls faster then we could hit them ;)
In between courses we hit the bumper boats. Hard to say who had more fun! Perfect place to work out any of my travel frustrations towards my children ;)
Poor WR was a little crushed that he wasn't tall enough to hop on the boats. Next time Buddy!
We made a stop back at the Goats on the Roof for a little ice cream afterwards!
Later that evening we headed to Top Bridge park to soak in all the beauty and put out toes in the icy river
We had the place to ourselves
Hard to beat endless rocks to toss in a river when you are a little boy!
T and AL had a blast wading around in the water while I took the boys to explore the bridge.
Another great day in paradise!
Topped off with running around the beach as the tide came in before bed. Even on a grey evening, still gorgeous.
