Granny's 90th - Part 2

 Saturday was party day!  The clouds opened up and it poured like I have rarely seen before.  The winds howled and a storm raged for the two hours leading up to the party as we worked away in the kitchen, but at 1pm the sun came blazing through and smiled down on the party.  My Uncle rented this fun pontoon boat for the party so that lots of guest, including the birthday girl could get out on the lake easier than the speed boat.  My kids couldn't wait to take it for a spin.  WR on the other hand was pretty mad when I dragged him away from his favorite sandy spot.

 AL was the best captain of the crew and got to drive for quite some time

 It didn't take too long before WR was loving it too!

 

We were greeted by my cousin and his little girl when we got back

 These two were pretty much connected at the hip the entire day.  So cute to see the cousin love!

 Even Granny got out on a cruise!  The skies got a bit black but we didn't get a drop of rain to spoil the day.

 

We had such a great time visiting and catching up with my cousins, and aunts and uncles!

 

My cousin E with her nephew was so super cute!  (He is the only grandchild in their family so it was fun to see how much they were all in love with him)

 Me and the birthday girl!  My Granny is doing amazing for 90. She is still very sharp with just a bit of forgetfulness (but heck, I'm forgetful even now) and very mobile and still living completely independently.

 My cousin E is so artistic (she designs sets for movies and TV series and is incredibly talented and successful).  She came up with this beautiful way for us all to write our Gran a note and add a polaroid and then she compiled them all into an album for her.

 When we were little my Mom's cousin got married and a pic was taken of all the grandchildren lined up from oldest to youngest.  It was adorable.  But then the tradition continued and the pics just got akward as we got to be gangley teens lol.  We of course had to recreate it once again (just missing my cousin B between me and my sister. He lives in New Zealand so he had a good excuse to miss out)

 

And then we had to carry on the tradition with the great grandchildren!

 Oh WR!  He had to shake his behind and give everyone a good laugh

Days like this just make you realize how much you miss seeing everyone and wish life didn't spread us so far apart.

I think we munched all day as we visited and then we were spoiled with a feast for dinner!  We set up it the front yard and all ate together.

We set the cake a blaze with 90 candles and sang happy birthday

We sure do love our Granny.

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day celebrating this amazing lady! She made a little speech after we toasted her.  She said that she felt overwhelmed all day long with pure happiness as she just watched all her family around her.  She said that she just kept thinking how much Grandad would have been amazed at all that came from the two of them! (I'm sure he was smiling down on us all)
